Shortly after Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), the new chair of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, introduced federallegislationto block the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from updating Clean Air Act pollution standards, I dashed off a parody song to memorialize his bill. Of course, it's based on the classic Billy Joel hit "Uptown Girl."

The feedback to my blog was tremendous -- with folks urging me to sing and record the song. Unfortunatley, I have no musical talent whatsoever. But, fortunately, I took on the challenge and found a local studioand talented performer Ray Remesch to record my song. And my colleague Lauren Zingarelli helped out by creating a karaoke-style video so everyone can sing along.
With Chairman Upton's House Energy and Commerce Committee about to debate his "dirty air act" -- with a vote expected as early as Tuesday -- now seems like the perfect time to "drop" the song on the world. So, without further ado, I present to you the Upton Bill song!
I hope you enjoy it. Better yet, I challenge you to share it with your friends so we can spread the word that Rep. Upton's harmful bad air bill is nothing to joke about. Politicians in Congress should put the health of all Americans before polluters and let the EPA do its job!
